  Davy's Strange Magnum Attractor (Hawksmoor Guildhall): Served from magnum. Fully mature - would I have known it was a Chianti? Not sure - definitely the sour / cherrystone finish wasn't there, but a lovely well put together wine nonetheless.

  [From magnum.] A joy and a privilege to taste a wine so lovely as this. An outstanding Chianti vintage by all accounts, and a long-lived one judging by this wine's splendid showing this evening. Gorgeously seductive nose of truffles, cocoa, spices such as clove and mace. Lovely lift and loftily fragrant, but juicy and almost chewy as well. Just a hint of oxidisation and a melancholic note at the end, suggesting the end of its life is not far off. Splendid nonetheless.

  From 750: Bought upon release and stored under ideal conditions, this bottle, the last of a case, is drinking at peak. No further improvement expected. Drink up! Cinnamon on the nose and palate with fully integrated oak and resolved tannins. Just enough tannic bite left to give focus. Still has plenty of juicy sangiovase fruit. Good acidity and fair finish.
