  • SommSelect Blind Six - March 2018; 3/31/2018-4/1/2018 (Shady Acres. Houston, TX): I hope i put this under the right name. Should have Federspiel in the title

SCREWCAP CORAVIN ACCESSED (by the way, the closure doesn't work so well after 5 days. The florals/white pepper disappeared on day 5)

    Tasted Blind

A: Pale lemon green [IC says medium (+) color]
N: First off there was ripe banana and pear drops but that smell passed about 15 minutes after pouring. Got herbs, celery, wet stones, lots and lots of white pepper. [IC had additional honey, radish, cucumber, wet rock] Medium intensity and youthful.
P: My aromas were confirmed. Dry, medium acid [IC says medium (+)], medium alcohol, medium body, medium (+) intensity and medium (-) finish [IC says medium ].
C: This young fresh wine is for drinking now and not laying down. BLIC? balance and intensity get ticks. Good Quality wine.

    MY GUESSES:
Gruner Veltliner because of all that white pepper.
Normally i would say Old World and cool climate without a doubt here but i failed to truly believe that it was. the acidity was strangely low (i was prob just dehydrated). Once i guessed it was gruner though, it was going to be from Austria and so wrote that down. Guessed Wachau as Kamptal and Kremstal would have a little more body.

    MISTAKES:
I should rehydrate between wines. That correct acidity would have helped.
