Another fascinating wine from Rod. I'll admit that I didn't much like this upon release, so I fell to the back of the cellar. On a whim (and because the cellar, post-holiday, is depleted), I opened the thing and was very pleasantly surprised. A handful of years has given this wine body, depth, and intrigue. While still a tad hollow on the palate, what is there screams with character, although maybe not what one might call charm. Lemon curd and clove honey with a reductive quality.

Rich and golden, but for a flowery halo, you might mistake this for Chardonnary. Great depth and density, there are ripe orchard fruits and some citrus for good measure. There is oak, but really racy acidity lifts everything together and leaves a long harmonious finish. Delicious.

This wine has an acidity and richness that paired really well with our Christmas eve fresh crab dinner.

Tasted at the winery. Bright gold colour. Dry, oaky. Not memorable.
