Leon's Louis Remy Offline (The Medlar, London): Half a bottle, open 8 hrs and apparently faded somewhat. Slightly dusty red fruited nose. Quite good weight and length but really quite approachable. A touch rustic and a little rough around the edges in an unkempt rather than unruly sense. Good density to the fruit but again, Jouan doesn't wow me. ***1/2

Great nose of dark red fruit and spices; autumnal qualities; fair acid and nice balance; surprisingly developed for a '01 GC

Richard Katz memorial dinner (28-50, London EC4): Spice, game, funk, silky texture, deep yet fresh, and after the syrahs showing a welcome touch of sweetness. Adored this.
