  • Another incredible bottle of this great wine and probably one of the very best Kabinetts Germany produces. This has mellowed a little since my last bottle, but it‘s still showing incredible depth without weight, and that great vein of minerality and high acidity the Falkenstein wines are famous for. Super long finish and excellent tension. This is really as good as Kabinett gets. Wow.

  • 2 yrs. since last bottle, and a few more years has been good to it. Featherlight and very elegant, still with an acidity like a Stinger-missile. Great wine, love it right now, and to me the essence of a meditation-wine. (92-93 pts).

  • Glassware: Zalto Universal
Prep: Pop n' pour, allowed to warm up from fridge temp

Touch of sponti and lime leaf on the nose right out of the gate. With more air the nose shows gooseberry, sage and other herbal tones, licorice, and white peach. Very understated and elegant, and truly off-dry, with flavors of Meyer lemon, fresh green herbs, tobacco leaf, dried green apple, and white peach dancing on the palate. The acidity is more refined and integrated than the last couple bottles I've had from the 2016 and 2018 vintages vintages, and holds up well to provide a nice balance to the residual sugar and mineral tones of slate and saline that linger on the finish.

This wine provides great drinking pleasure now (when does Gisela not?!), but feels like it's holding back a little something that will show itself with time. Will wait another 4-5 years to open my next bottle.

  • Online Blind Tasting #1 (Online): *** brief notes from online blind tasting ***
Note is based on a tasting sip in the morning on day one, 5cl on the evening and 0,1l filled in a bottle and sealed with argon gas on the evening of day two.
    Glass: Zalto Universal
Used as a “palate cleaner”. High, racy, but well integrated acidity. More off-dry, lots of extract, great tension. Juicy and mouthwatering. Airy and dancing on the tongue. Long, lingering and very fragrant finish. 90-91
