  • Very light, ruby red color. Much lighter than I'd expected, frankly, as I was looking for something heavier than a village burg but lighter than the more intense beaux freres or Scott Paul I was eyeing. In any event, the nose was actually quite good - mix of red fruits, some earthy/pine thing going on. On entry, palate was pretty mild, strawberry, some light indeterminate spice, probably from oak, maybe a little raspberry, and some vanilla. Sort of hollow in the middle, but enough acidity to stand up to the creamy wild rice soup I served it with. Tasted on its own and with the food, with similar comments. Finish was on the shorter side. Reading, this, it sounds like I didn't like this - that would be wrong, it was very good, just not as good as I'd hoped.
