  • Super approachable. Floral nose with cherries, menthol, tobacco. Excellent palate with medium-high acidity and non-obtrusive tannins. Lots of layers here with dark cherries, boysenberries, tobacco leaves, then a nice, long ending with spice and vanilla. No need to wait - I am sure this will improve with time but it’s already great now!

  • Under the villainous cork, but fortunately no TCA trauma. Scored as excellent on the CT scale and I am rating it as an expression of CdP, more so than how much I like it.

This has a very deep colour, not quite inky but getting there. Promises power, which is, indeed, delivered in spades.

The nose evolves over 2 days undecanted. I think it is much more pleasurable on day 2. Day 1 is dominated by mocha coffee and earth and dark chocolate - unpleasant for me, but others may love this. Day 2 these remain as elements but porty raspberry, blackberry and liquorice aromas come up and I feel there is a hint of blueberry. There is also plenty of alcohol heat. I don't think you can complain about lack of intensity or complexity.

The palate is massive, intense and long. I get raspberry and blueberry at first then come the coffee grounds, dark chocolate, porty blackberry, a hint of roast meats and supporting ripe tannins. Again, the best of the wine comes on day 2.

I have to say this is a very good expression of CdP and, considering it is their entry level, you are getting a whole lotta love. However, the way you feel about this wine may be dictated by your tolerance for alcohol heat and the dark chocolate and coffee elements. I am ambivalent to negative about dark chocolate and coffee in my wines, but these things are not faults and CdP is a ripe style, where these are legitimate expressions. I really like the complexity, the blueberry aspects and the exuberance. I guess for me this is a bit too much like Slash and not enough like Page, but it isn't like Slash can't play and if this is your thing, I don't think you can be criticised - it's not like it is Avicii.

  • "A beautiful CDP. Needs time to open up. Great depth of red fruit flavour. Smooth tannin and oak add to the classic depth of flavour"

  • Very pleasant young CnDP! Drank this really chilled to enjoy the lighter side of the wine and I must say it came though nicely.
Spices, red berries for fruit, à touch of acidity and some tannins for depth. Good effort on this entry level CnDP of the domaine.
