  • Imbibing with homemade onion soup, (Albert Stockli "Spendid Fare", [too long out of print] recipe) for whatever non-reason words not heard since high school transplanted Quebecois classmates cursed 'sacre bleu'. Wine has wonderous qualities. In my mind, I revisited Stockli's Stonehenge Inn in Ct, Les Trois Tilleuls in St. Marc sur Richelieu, a couple of Paris bistros on quiet side allies, many NYC restaurants like La Toque Blanche and Cafe des Sports. Must be the Cotes du Rhone reviving old brain cells harder than the velvelty wine.

  • Bottle # 2, Ordered case however all sold out

Black purple, nose is lavender and herbs. Such a lovely mouthfeel, integrated sweet tart black fruit, enough tannic grip - not too much - to spell out Rhone, all in balance.

I tasted this producer's 2017 Rasteau. It is bigger, younger, less approachable fruit, more structure, different grape mix. I'll reserve my review for 6 months of aging.

  • This Cotes du Rhone kisses you with an invitation to French wine and food. I immediately imagined the breathtaking panoramic images from the series Riviera and sitting next to Mlle Tres Jolie nibbling on local hors d'oeuvres. One can dream, n'est pas?

All the preceding reviews are formidable.

Two days on. As noted by previous posters, this is a serious CDR tasting like a CDP (bacon fat) and having recently tasted Vieux Telegramme and Telegraphe, this may be more typical and better rated in a blind tasting.

  • Easy drinking with great fruit and some nice meat and smoke notes. About as good a CdR one can find.

  • It smells like cranberry, smokey bacon, lychee, medicinal, raspberry, red currant, toast and cherry. It tastes like basil, lychee, pistachio, black currant (cassis) and BLACK CHERRY. The wine looks ruby colored.
