2017s From Domaine Huet (Armit Wines): Well this is certainly a distinctive wine. A very faint pin prickle of gas left and then the most extra intense smell of wet wool, quince jelly and cheese rinds. It's a fizz for chenin aficionados only. There's something highly peculiar about the aromas which include some cellar mushroom damp, musty tones which may be construed as cork taint by some. Not rated on this occasion as it left me unsure it was in perfect condition.
Wet wool, bread, ripe/dried fruit, hay, nuts on the nose. Quite oxidative on the palate, good acidity, well balanced. Short finish and overall on the palate rather simple. 89-91

Top 100 Farewell Dinner 2015 (Rodwell House): (Tasted Blind): Mid-lemon colour with vibrant mousse. The nose is rich with ripe pear, citrus and Gala Apple. A delineated character on the palate, there is a pithy citric texture yet has a beer-y, savoury note that slightly detracts but does confirm Chenin Blanc yet could suggest some of the wine is tiring - an older MCC. The mid-palate is more cream soda, with sweeter fruits coming to the fore. Crisp but not biting acid, the mid-palate is all about bruised apple, creme brulée, and some button mushroom (troglodyte caves...). Pithy wine, but wine doesn't quite feel knit.
