  • Although I've been buying Felton Road for 5 or 6 years this is the 1st bottle opened. Lightish colour belies surprising complexity. Complex nose includes cream soda (too much of this for me), liquorice, orange and tobacco. Soft tannins, great balance, body below mid weight. Complex penetrating long finish. Very finely made. P.s. the cream soda became more intrusive over time and 1 point deducted. Drink now.

  • Still in great shape, needs 2+ hours in bottle breathing to open up. This is my last of 6 bottles drank over a period of 2+ years. While this wine can be kept for a few more years, I don't see improvement from aging. A wine to be drink early.

  • From 'Lost Cellar'. This wine is bottled under Stelvin which may explain its closed character that persisted for some hours. The wine remains a bright cherry red with a nose of plum, cherry and some spice. There is a prominent stemmy component despite only 23% whole clusters. On the palate there is quite fine structure and classic plum, cherry and wild strawberry fruit characters but the stem characters do intrude albeit less with prolonged aeration. Overall while there is clear evidence of care and character in the wine it seems a little plain and certainly impacted on by the apparent stemmy character. I would suggest a good aeration before serving and look foward to trying a further bottle in 5 years.

  • Medium ruby.
Beautifully balanced, medium bodied wine with red cherries & raspberries nose/palate.
Probably at its peak but should drink well for another 2-4 years.

  • Under screwcap. I was surprised by the quality here. Light ruby. An unusual, atypical Central Otago pinot. Spicy, herby and earthy with tobacco, orange citrus and red fruit notes. Racy acidity and refined tannins. Well balanced, below mid weight, yet long. Savoury and quite detailed. Drinking well now it may well add greater complexity as it develops over the next 10+ years.
