Gorgeous deep red colour. Contucci riserva spends at least 12 months in oak (big barrels as characteristic of the region). The nose opens with sour cherry and plum. After some decanting time, plenty of earthy notes, baking spices, a hint of menthol. Wonderful nose. Tannins are still a bit green, acidity is high. Medium body. Medium aftertaste, dominated by marasca cherry.
It's a good product, but it doesn't really hit the jackpot for the vintage. There are plenty of better productions on that year for Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.

Still young, this wine is tannic when first opened and needs a long decant at present to smooth off the rough edges. The nose shows cherries, floral hints, menthol, and sour plums. The palate has medium plus acidity and tannin, with flavours of cherries and unripe plums. Keep this in your cellar for another couple of years.

Forward and food friendly, with a very nice cherry and strawberry nose with hints of earthiness, more cherry and minerals in the palate. Some tannins and good acid make for a well balanced and very food friendly wine, but ready now. Lacking in complexity and medium- length hold it back but a nice wine.
