Community Tasting Notes (3) Avg Score: 88.8 points

  • Medium pale salmon towards peach colour.
NOSE: White peach, red currant, cherry stone, flowers and rhubarb (87p)
TASTE: The arrival is slightly oily, with white peach and red currant fruit. On the mid palate more substance, a somewhat darker fruitiness with cherry, blackberry and a hint of raspberry. Medium to full bodied. The exit is fruity, rounding the wine off with a mild tannic astringency which carries through to cherry stone and peach stone in the medium to long aftertaste. (88p)
OVERALL: Very well made and reasonably substantial Bandol rosé which has matured, probably has had its more youhfull freshness rounded off and gained weight and flashiness, into a supple, mid to full bodied rosé which drinks very well. Will probably keep (rather than develop) for another 2-4 years (drink 2019-2023). Total score 88 points.

  • Dark pink in color, this wine (80% Mourvedre/10% Grenache/10% Cinsault) reveals tangerine, white peach and cherry pit on the nose. The mouth feel is full bodied with more red fruits, defined spiciness and minerals. The finish is long with excellent cut and depth. 13.5% abv.

Purchased for $13US as part of a rose' sampler (retails at $27), this is a complex, full-bodied rose' that was an ideal pairing with my crab cakes dinner tonight. I loved it at my purchase point but question its $27 retail.

Imported by Fruit of the Vines, Long Island City, NY.

  • Taste Thirst Quenching Whites (5) & Rosés (5) (San Diego Wine Co.): 80% Mourvèdre, 10% Grenache, & 10% Cinsault from bush-pruned vines (1/2 of which ave 45 yrs old, the rest 25) in west-facing vyds grown in soils of sandy marl, marly clay, & sandstone bedrock with limestone topsoil. Vinified in s/s tanks for 4 wks @ 62°F, malolactic blocked. ~4,200 cs

N: Closed; Flowers slightly atop grapes

P: Med body; RNDISH entry with NICE frt met by ALMOST puckerish acidity which carries the frt through the LONG, nicely balanced, slightly tangy finish with a sense of swtness to the very, VERY fine tannins. Could stand 9-12 mos aging, then drinking through '21, poss a tad longer? 12.5% ABV; My EXC- for a SUBSTANTIAL style! [This vendor's $22.95 is $1-$2 < either of wine-searcher's other 2 sources.]
