  • On the verge of large, this one - but delicate still. Aromas of lilac, sweet raspberry, sweet cherry and blackberry. Some toffee and cola, mild baking spice, a touch of woodwork and vanilla.
Velvety mouthfeel, medium acidity, Excellent nuance and balance. Concentrated and long. I always feel that Chanin’s S&Bs - both red and white - are on the brink of being too oaky, but just pulls it off and leaves me sitting there with a smug smile..

  • Prior bottle was 1 year ago and my notes were quite similar. Black cherry, black raspberry and a mix of light spices and earth notes on the nose. Medium bodied with a very similar fruit profile to my prior bottle: black cherry initially, moving to black raspberry through the middle and lightly tart black and red cherry on the back. Both the initial fruit and the mid-body are a bit more open, rounded and expressive than previously. And there are enough tart notes, acidity and balanced tannins behind to provide structure and emphasize some of the brighter notes throughout. Gives the wine nuance and harmony. Should continue to show well over the next 2 years, but this wine is at peak and while it has plenty of life ahead, I don't see room for additional positive evolution.

  • Prior bottle was 11 months ago and my notes were consistent. Black cherry, black raspberry, earth and spice notes on the nose. Medium bodied with expressive black cherry upfront, showing some brighter elements and some more rounded notes. Mid-body adds balanced black raspberry, additional black cherry and still retains some of those background red cherry highlights. Lightly tart black cherry behind, along with fine grained tannins, acidity and lingering mineral qualities. Showing quite well at present. It's a slight step behind the 2015 in terms of depth and elegance, but only a small step. I may open my next bottle as soon as November 2023.

  • Consistent with prior notes, staying strong. Ate with a Gochujang-glazed sockeye salmon, an excellent pairing.

PNP. Pale ruby color. Offers strawberry, cranberry, rose petal, gun smoke, leather and a hint of toffee. Satin texture, medium-light bodied. Zesty red fruit on the palate, with rounded tannins.
