Medium to deep straw color, pronounced lemon curd and citrus fruits, followed by crusty brioche and honeycomb. Substantial mouthfeel and a lasting saline finish. The additional time on the lees makes a difference here. Tasting it back to back, the late disgorged makes the normal 2011 Le Reve feel simpler and one note.
Does it stand up to Champagne at similar price points? Not quite, but it’s nonetheless an excellent sparkler.
