The 2016 still has ability to cellar. Very balanced We used a Coravin needle and sampled over a month. If you do not clear the needle with Argon you bleed a little air into the wine. This selectively adds that air. The wine’s acidity reduces. It’s a balanced wine with good length. Fruit is cherry, violets and the usual pleasure. This is a steal under $14 and we will seek it out. Great with food and hard cheeses. Actually surprised a bottle so inexpensive can be so pleasing.

Not much on the nose right out of the bottle. Pepper and cherry. Acidic finish gives it a bright and almost citrus feel. Enjoyable on its own after the meal... not what I expected and very satisfied

Retail $17. 100% Barbera. This was the second wine we tasted during a Zoom dinner, preceded by the Pertinace Dolceto d'Alba and it did not skip a beat. Great fruit both on the nose and palate of tart, bright cherry, with some plum and blackberry. There is a surprising amount of depth on the mid-palate with earthy notes and perhaps some tobacco leaf. The vibrant acidity really comes through on the finish, begging for food and the semolina gnocchi from Roma Restaurant filled the bill impeccably. Perhaps the pairing of the night, but that is certainly debatable. Excellent. thedrunkencyclist.com
