{screwcap, 14%} Dark flavours of black currant and malt, with a bit of black olive. Only a hint of spiciness stops you calling it cabernet. Very Margaret River nonetheless, with a distinct sense of British racing green in liquid form. Medium body, medium dusty, semi-artificial tannins, medium acid. Feels a bit paint-by-numbers but isn’t a bad wine. Not sure cellaring will do much except make it gently fade.

{screwcap, 14%} Deep garnet. Sandalwood oak, blackberry, hint of vanilla. Youthful. Voluptuous nose, with none of the green I associate with cabernet from MR. A bit peppery though, on the palate, savoury, medium weight but a bit skeletal; has too much heft and heat to be beguiling but the fruit isn’t all that rich either. Medium weight, low/medium dusty tannins, low acidity, savoury and a bit hollow on the short/medium length finish. A bit average to be honest; maybe time will help but I’m not that confident.

Nose of plums, berries and spices. Palate, mild tannins and overall nicely balanced with some pepper and tobacco. Finish, medium. Nice wine overall paired with meat.

Nicely balanced shiraz from a cooler climate. Blackberries, plums, spices, menthol, chocolate. Restraint from the fields and the cellar comes through. Fresh acidity but nicely balanced. Tannins are relatively fine, new oak is quite prevalent at this point but not out of place. Better on day 2. Suggest laying these down for 3 to 5 years

Light for a shiraz. Lacking the fruitiness of the Barossa or the pepperiness if the Hunter, but still very nice.
