Outstanding. tasted first and then decanted for 2 hours. It really opened up with full dark red fruits, earth and complexity. may have over clubbed, but paired great with wood fired mushroom pizza.

Delicious! I have relatively limited Barbera experience, so the best description I can give is in the context of other wines. Out of the bottle, this smells and tastes like a beautiful cool Cali zinfandel, gorgeous red fruits and silky on the palate, but still with a background of that classic old world earth. Out of curiosity, I poured half the bottle into a decanter for comparison. The flavors darken as the wine breathes, fruits turn towards black; earth, rocks, dust come to the fore. The wine becomes more Bordeaux-like as it opens. The last quarter of the bottle consumed 24hrs later were reminiscent of a St Emilion (with less tannin); driven by earth and mineral all held together with subtle dark fruit. This wine transformed dramatically over a day, has at least 5 more yrs of positive evolution, though is really fantastic now. I recommend pop and pour, but take your time with it. Super value for <$40.

Rich and luxurious with glossy cherries and plums. Really stylish, with a lick of medicinal spice and liquorice to add intrigue. Has the stuffing to go a while and needs a big piece of beef to stand up to it.

Very dark. Intensly fruity nose. Large scaled, still primary.
