Decanted for 45 minutes and after that it opened up even more in the glass. so give it enough air to open up. Wow, what a wine. Comparable to a good white burgundy in style with a very, very long finish. I agree that this wine still has a lot of years ahead but it was a joy drinking it last night. I bought it at the estate itself and kept it at 12 degrees in my cellar. The estate told me when I bought it that this wine needed in between 5 and 10 years in the cellar.

South Africa Wimps (Trompette): Had been double decanted a few hours prior to drinking. On the nose - wow - open for business. This has years ahead of it i feel - I actually enjoyed this the least of the three wines in this flight, but I suspect that that is largely because this wine demands more effort just now - give it a decade or two and this will be just starting to blossom.

In decanter for 3 hours. Rich nose, well balanced, with fruit, good acids, wonderful texture, long, long lasting. Definitely an exceptional good chenin, but the price too high (like many South African wines nowadays). Perhaps too young. My next bottle has to wait a few years. Happy to have had the opportunity to drink.

Magnificent expression of Chenin, tropical fruit with freshness and bitters, sufficient acidity, creamy, length. Great wine. 92/93

Super complexity, already now balanced, fruit, high in acids, nice bitters. Closed, needs many more years. Top Chenin.
