  • Medium dark ruby with brick red hue. Dark cherry, forest floor, spice and hints of leather and smoke.
Soft and silky entry, with dried cherry, earth and dried herbs. I has fine acidity, soft and smooth tannins with a pretty good length.
Very good QPR and early drinking St. Joseph.

  • Consistent with previous notes. Very enjoyable and elegant, but a little muddied and hollow. At its peak.

  • Rich, round and fresh with aromas of boysenberry, coffee, grilled meat and mint. Full and balanced in the mouth with nice acidity and soft, melting tannins. I really like this wine but there is a certain hollowness holding it back.

  • Balanced, deep aromas of pepper, mineral, oak, mint and macerated cherries. Full in the mouth, good acidity, minimal tannins, with more mint and cherries. I like this wine quite a bit. Its a little muddied, but balanced and elegant.

  • I love this wine as much for its perceived typicity as its actual smell and taste. It's probably three years too early to drink, and I didn't decant it, I just opened and poured. I will say that in the second hour (with just me kind of sipping away) it is noticeably shutting down, which made me jump up and head over here to start recording this note before I lost the trail altogether. Subdued but attractive blackberry, pronounced pepper, a fat bacony note and nearly searing minerality. It's this last component that excites me with the ineffable expression of terroir, not too shabby at the village level. Don't know if I've ever had a wine by this producer before, but it appears to this humble observer to be made with a lot of care and respect. Three choices: chug quickly, decant well in advance, or wait 3-5. I'll vote for the last.
