Decided to give this a shot in light of the 93 rating from WA and WS along with the price point. Dark ruby fruit - dark cherry, blackberry, and currants/cassis. Smooth mid-palate with decent depth/concentration - medium/medium plus body. Nice flavors of dark berries, some spice/licorice, and a fairly prominent mineral profile - I can see where they get the rock in the name RLC (rock, loam, and clay describing the vineyard soil). Decent finish but not overly long nor deep and a little tightly coiled - it could use some more time to soften/open-up on the back-end. Decanted for one hour and drank over a couple more. Improved a little with time but in my opinion it needs a couple years to soften/open-up further. However, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the 93 rating with some more time - solid structure. 100% cab.
