Wow what a nice wine! Purchased from Coop liquor on suggestions of wine person. Paired with homemade bolognese made with authentic San Marzano tomatoes. And tagliatelle pasta. Wow! Nose of violet and cherries palate is all red berries mostly cherry. Maybe a bit of earth and smoke. Good structure and balance and wonderful pairing. And smooth as silk! I’ll def buy this one again!
A brilliant raspberry ruby colour at the core with a slight amber rim; medium optical density and fine specular reflectivity. Medium intensity and complexity of aromas with an elegant and beautiful character. Tobacco, cherry, and lightly tart raspberry float above gravel and florals. Some light brine and tar with wafts of olive and balsamic on the backend complete a very appealing and highly typical nose. Light in body on the palate with medium acidity and a low density weight. Tannins are firm but not astringent, showing plenty of structure and with medium to fine grain. Overall, the texture is polished but thin, for more of a dance across the palate than a coating and full mouthfeel. Flavours of tobacco-rolled cherry and raspberry on the attack. The fruit stays present as fresh wet gravel and forest meadow add subtly to the background by midpalate. A sense of smoked meats comes on in the final transition, providing for some interest before a twist of balsamic and warm tart cherry mixed with some savoury spices and light fresh leather. Finishes with medium plus length. Overall, intensity is persistent and complexity is quite good, but in an elegant way.
This is a really great bottle of wine. More subtle and refined than up front and assertive. Grows in complexity in the glass and mouth in a way that is almost surprising, as is offers some interesting depth that isn't all that obvious. Just classic, awesome, old world wine here, with all the typical notes expected and a great price. Very well enjoyable now, there is no hesitation in drinking this now or over the next several years. Thoughtful, understated, and beautiful.

Good fruit, tannins were noticeably but not too rough, drank easily, not to heavy, would drink again, drank with chicken breasts with penne pasta with maranara sauce. Caymans.
