Top burgundy dinner (Medlar, Chelsea, London): Seven years older than the Richebourg, but really very similar with its silk and red fruits, a bit broader with hints of tobacco and exotic spices

Alex's 'Top Burgundy' 2012 (The Medlar, London): Lighter, lacier, silky red-fruited nose, with a slightly menthol edge to the nose. Slightly brighter and more vibrant red fruit than the Richebourg. I'm a few notes short here, and the glass is empty. Not a bad sign. ****

Britannia group (Hix Mayfair): pale with some browning. Lacy intriguing nose, mineral and light strawberry, hint of forest floor decay. Lovely persistent power wrapped in sweet restrained fruit. Very vosne and a reall long balance dfinish. Delicious.

Rose petals, quite a dainty wine, nice elegance about it. Drinking well now, soft tannins.

Pristine and ethereally light and floral with spiced cherries and berries. Some tinge of mint leaves. Very elegant.
