  • Ugh, that stupid rubber cork. And it's dead as a door nail at first pour. However, this comes alive at the 30-minute mark in the glass and continues to unfold over the evening. Creamy cassis and gentle woody notes on the palate, with cinders and loam notes in the finish. Unsure of the blend -- perhaps Cab. Sauv., Merlot and a splash of Franc. Didn't pick up the whiskey notes others have noted. Perhaps that's simply time in the bottle. The first B&H we have enjoyed. Quite delicious. Probably has a couple of years left. ( = Worth seeking out)

  • As noted by others, too much of a whiskey taste, but it had held together well for a 13 YO bottle. May use it as a beef marinade base for tomorrow nights flank steak?

  • Had a few sips. Very whisky like....VA and alcohol are just too overpowering for me. Down the drain.

  • I was curious to try this, since the notes seem to be pretty polarized. It's an interesting wine. The nose is exactly like a good single malt whisky. Tastes remarkably like that as well, although it has nice fruits on the palate. It's definitely alcoholic though. I think enjoyment of this wine will be based on the tastes of the person drinking it, more than most wines. I think it's interesting in an intellectual sense (I haven't had anything like this before), but I'm not sure I want whisky in my wine.

I do understand the note below that mentions stewed tomatoes. That comes out 30-40 min of air.

  • Seriously stewed prunes and tomatos. Falling apart.
