Some 16 is is probably coming together now, definetely this! Read a post from a swedish winecritics (Tumble) who said this is in a good spot now and I totally agree. Nose is quite open with warm strawberries, roses, licorice and some secondary notes like coffe and tobacco. Taste is really concentrated but still balanced, everything is there: fruity sweetness, red cherries, licorice, cranberries, pleasant bitterness, balancing acidity, minerality. Alcohol is quite high but doesnt bother me but instead offers an intensity to the wine. Really long finish with mouthdrying and cheewy tannins and quite a nutty ending. What an astonishing wine this is and the best phase for a 16 neb that I've had in two years! My heart to this beautiful bottle! I will keep my last bottle for 1-2 years, curious on how it will develop.

Coravin sample. “Bouquet” is literal here: giant nose redolent of roses and violets followed by bing cherry, raspberry and petrichor. Palette adds a significant dash of peoper, significant acidity and quite a bit of structure. This still needs a few more years of rest to mellow the tannins and hopefully bring better balance. Great potential. The cork is staying in.

Much younger compared to the 2013 with a lot more primary flavours. Personally I prefer the 2013. But this still has that incredible balance. Really enjoyable and at this price point, amazing.

Here I found an earthy bouquet, showing crushed black cherry and dark florals, as lifting minerals and dusty soil tones evolved in the glass. On the palate, I found soft textures, as fleshy ripe cherry fruit was offset by peppery spice and saline-minerals. The finish was long, displaying tart cherry, cranberry and spice as grippy tannins slowly saturated the senses. Claudia has always referred to Vie Erte as being a Barbaresco that’s easier to enjoy in it’s youth, yet the 2016 looks to be built for the cellar.

Bouquet jumping out of the glass. No signs of shutting down. Clean, medium body, pleasent tannins, cherries, asphalt.
