Community Tasting Notes (4) Avg Score: 92 points

  • Med lemon. Pronounced. Complex. Citrus and bruised apple. Stone fruit and nuts. Slightly oxidative. Wet stones. Sweet spices. Pastry and hints of wood. High acidity. Medium body and alcohol. Long. Outstanding.

    NB:
    100% Altesse
    18 months in barrique
As per the cuvées Schiste and Améthyste, the vines are in Cévins in the remote Tarantaise valley. Quartz comes from the heart of the coteau, full south-facing, where Lydia and Claude Bourguignon identified the most qualitative parcels and advised to only plant altesse.. Bush vines 'sur échalas' on terraced slopes, almost no top-soil, the roots get straight into the slate giving low yields of 20hh. Direct press, fermentation with native yeasts, ageing for 18 months in 1-10yo barriques.

  • Hard to rate, NR

Probably a 90ish... could be higher but still

Quince, ripe lemon, floral, hint of mango, and exotic fruit, med+ intensity

Palate is quite fresh and zesty, with med acidity, med alcohol and a hint of power, ripe apple aftertaste, more acidity would make it a more interesting wine to me, as it lacks complexity and tart to be that pricey ! 75 E nowadays ... geez there a re hundreds of wines to taste within that range TBH ... but it is indeed very long aftertaste in the backplate

  • Clean citrus aromatics. Mineral, precise, broad palate. Very good.

  • Pale lemon. Pronounced. Vanilla, smoke, blossom, honeysuckle, apricot, peach, wet stones. Focused minerality and richness, with strong oak influence. Med+ acidity. 12.5 alcohol.
The fruit is not concentrated, the vines are still young but there is a lot of potential.

Biodynamic viticulture is championed here, the slope can reach a 70% incline, and the yields are very low. 20hl/ha
