Fleshy dark berries, woodsmoke, balsamic, hints of oak driven vanilla, and hints of mint — pretty aromatic and layered nose. Palate is fleshy and balanced with many of the same notes as the nose promises. Nice fleshy texture and a really long finish with berries and a touch of oak-driven notes on the way out. Very good.

40th anniversary tasting (L'Esprit du Vin - Axelborg): My notes from this fantastic gigantic tasting are in general extremely short (because of the many wines) but with ratings. We spent a whole day tasting and tasting quality wines.
This wine: The best right now among vintage 2018, 2016 and 2015.

Somewhat surprised to see any rating starting with an 8. This is a lovely wine, ready to drink now but will improve for the next 5 to 10 years. Deep purple with lovely dark fruit cherry based mix, smooth and structured, some tannins, leather with some oak, overall a beautifully balanced wine.

The nose was fruity with a wet concrete smell. Taste of stewed plum, blackberry, slight oak. Finish was smooth and long. It seemed unorganized on the palate however. There was some sharp flavors cutting through the fruit that distracted. Medium tannins on my mid palate. It may have needed a longer decant than the 30 minutes. …. After 24 hours back in the bottle the blend really opened up and was a different and much better representation of the region.

My bottle showed like a bottle that was not ready to drink or perhaps on its way to being shut down for a few years. Some rustic tannins are obscuring the complex black and red fruit underneath, and it showed its alcohol, too. Hard to assess, but the pair of well-reviewed Galia SVDs I bought with this are going to bed for 5-10 years.
