A true unicorn never to be made again and whose quantities dwindle by the day, BBV Genevriéres which can be hit (really hit) or miss (advanced) is absolutely stunning tonight, disregarding the frost laden vintage and firing on all cylinders with massive concentration and killer yellow fruit intensity that’s seamlessly balanced with layered minerality and racy citrusy acids. It wafts from the glass and the decanter with waves of ripe orchard fruit, popcorn, hazelnut and exotic spices. Texturally brilliant, with plenty of tension and serious length, terroir and producer shine in this beauty.

Michael's Wedding: Better condition than last bottle as this did not decline. Did not open up on the first day. Sesame reduction masking over white fruit. 93-94 Day three, reduction has faded, too sweet, actually less impressive. Stewed yellow fruit, pineapple, coconut, tropical flavors. Large on palate. Very resolved with good clarity, spicy but light. 93

blind Same flight with DRC Corton 2017. Really great match-up. I preferred slightly the Corton but this is a nearly perfect white Burgundy. Some popcorn, nuts, a lot of salinity. Not too reductive. 97

Riper than the 13’ Lafon Genevrieres served next to it. Honey and pear top notes, on the nose and palate. Steely in one way, with a good vein of clear acidity running through it, then ripe and round in another, almost like two different wines in one. Very good spice through the back and in to the palate. Has a real presence to it. However with air, it becomes more buttery and creamy. The vanilla really blooms, becoming bit over the top for me. First time trying this producer, and while very interesting, not quite enough freshness or tension, at least partly due to the vintage I’m sure.

Lovely reduction. Yellow fruit, sesame. Best upon opening as it turned flat after. 94-93
