3rd time I have had this and my last bottle. Not decanted. Crimson color with some bricking on the edges. Notes of iron, blackberry and tobacco leaf. An earthy finish with some smoke. Soft tannins. Drink now if you have any. This was better 6 years ago. 91 points.

Gourmet Group: Rick Bayless (M/M thelostverse): From 375ml, courtesy of Vino Me, paired with a beet salad. Rose petal and cherry aromas. Dark fruit on the palate, still some tannin to shed. Earthy/cedary note in the finish. I like it.

From a 375ml bottle. Decanted and poured back into the bottle 5 hours before dinner. 2nd time I have had this wine (the last being in 2005). Paired with a beet, red onion, blue cheese salad with a sherry vinaigrette. Brownish red color. Cedar and earthy aromas. Notes of tobacco leaf, tar and black fruit. Tannins are still holding strong. 93 points.

Weekly tasting group RWP: Really Special Wines (@ DJ): Very transparent garnet red. In the mature bouquet celery, earth and autumn impressions. On the palate cherries, leather, animals, beautiful acidity and soft, developed tannin. Lovely and mature wine. 90 - 91

Nice barolo, but not impressive. Soft nose of cherries and pencil shavings, same flavors on palate with some additional blueberry. The acidity and tannins are well balanced, but the finish is thinner than expected. Should still age well but I don't think it will get any better.
