A blend of 40% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay, and 30% Pinot Meunier. 13 years on the lees. Disgorged February 2021. Deep gold. Apple, ripe lemon, floral notes, biscuit, nuts, almond, marzipan, and brioche, with good acidity and very good length. The medium-fine mousse is round and perceived as lightly creamy. Good body and concentration. Hugely benefits from aeration. I can see why some are referencing Krug and DP, but (based on this one bottle) to me the Comme Autrefois 2005 is not quite on that level. The former usually have even better structure, and are even more drinkable. But that is splitting hairs. The Comme Autrefois 2005 is very good, and is not done justice by comparing it to big brand bottlings.

An Epic Summer Wine Weekend; 7/1/2022-7/3/2022 (Muskoka, Ontario, Canada): This pours light gold in the glass. The nose is unusual with some strange burlap, corn husk, medicinal lemon drop, dried apple, and dried lemon peel. The palate shows some cheese rind character and corn husk on the finish. Note my favorite style.

14 years on the lees, degorgement January 2021. Incredibly fresh, needs about two hours to really open up. Complex aromas and constantly evolving. Limes, roasted nuts, vanilla/creme Brûlée, a light savouriness, really good and long finish. At the level of Dom Perignon. Needs a few years, better to wait.
