Stewed strawberries, red fruit, a hint of blueberry, some thyme. After about 30 min, oak came out - caramel and spiced rum, and much more blueberry.
Red and blue fruit on the palette, nice finish, light tannins and decent acidity. Paired with grilled vegetables, squash, and halloumi.
Runs a little hot at 14.4% ABV, but a long(ish) finish prevents the alcohol from feeling overwarm.
A solid expression of the carignan varietal from Anderson Valley - it escapes the tendency to light, watery versions of bigger grapes that Anderson reds can be prone to. Good with food but also pleasant to drink on its own.
