Deep tawny color, beautiful bouquet with prominent notes of caramel. Salted caramel on tasting as well, but also poached pears, apples... Long finish. Way too good.

Deep amber color. Rich aromas of honey, raisin, fig, and apricot. Palate has good acidity to help cut the sweetness. Dried apricot, green fig, honey, and a touch of bitter melon carry this into a long finish. Drink or hold.

This time around this bottle did not show all the complexity of a previous bottle I had opened some time ago. Sweeter than the 2009, however with a strong supportive acidity, it lacked the strong hazelnut character of a bottle I have tried a year ago. Denser than the 2009, spicy, smoky. My impression is that the wine was darker, more aged and less lively than last year. It came from a less reliable shop as well.

Brilliant. Remains the best Vin Santo I've tried. Caramel, smoke, dried apricot. Delicious with chocolate fig cake.
