Opened about 1 hour before serving; not decanted. Dark purple with slight browning on the edge. Blackberries and plums in the nose and initial flavors, with a slight touch of playdough. Virtually no tanin, good length. Good, decent wine, but not at this price.

And Cabernet Franc. Syrah Ed's wine. He said it's an expensive Napa Cabernet. I said he paid too much and he should stick with Syrah. Decent wine, needs time, but lacking varietal character. Generic Red. Not recommended. Next day some cabernet character appeared, but not much.

Sage, plum, cherry aromas followed by ripe marionberry, anise, soft oak on the weighty finish. Something is a bit off for me, suspect the heavy licorice/anise notes which lead to a bitterness on the hind palate.
