This pours medium to light ruby with remarkably little bricking. The nose is a deep and rich if a tad mute showing dark cherry, blackberry, plum, muddy earth, a touch of peonies, and mushrooms. The palate too is youthful entering on plum with medium minus tannin and medium acid. The finish closes a touch muddy and deep and rich. All in all I was quite surprised how youthful and undeveloped this is. While really nothing is wrong with it and it's quite lovely, it is very much lacking the burgundy fireworks we all hope for. At least today.

Level half cm below capsule. Dusty red fruits on the nose. Nice big punch of cherry fruit upfront. You can feel the concentration of what must have been a very exciting wine at once. However this quickly fades into soil and earth which becomes the finishing note as the fruit rapidly fades from view. Don't think the bottle was faulty, just very much past its best. Felt disjointed. Interesting but not delicious.

It has a core of sweet cherry fruit. There are purple flower notes and a hint of earth. It is calm and even, but with outstanding depth and precision. The finish is loaded with geological matter and length of flavour was terrific. The wine crackles with energy because of its electric acidity.

Clear dark garnet colour. The nose is fresh and vibrant and surprisingly primary. Youthful red cherry and cranberry. Aromatics are delicate and detailed, some silty mineral and clay soil. Elegant. Picking up weight and a bit of spice. Bright acid lifts the red berry. Structured but tannins are soft. Round and soft mouthfeel. Pretty and very enjoyable if not overly cerebral. Very Volnay in its brightness and pep. Picking up more in aromatic detail on the nose and texture on the palate. Off the list at Noble Rot in London. 90-91.
