Monday hangout at Domaine (Chicago, IL): Served double blind with the Ama and Scallop Shelf, and readily identified as a horizontal from the same producer. This is the lightest of the three, with more tart, red fruit and plenty more lift as well. Elegant, clean, and bright, with a good mineral kick. A bit angular now, probably better with a few more years to round out the edges.

At the open: Smells of wet earth, rain, damp barnyard, cherries, and dark red fruit Tastes of complex red fruit and earth; lots of complexity and tannins.
45 Minutes: Smells of convincing red fruit Tastes of festive red fruit and earth; an energetic celebration taste; playful brooding density
75 Minutes: Smells of light dark-red fruit Tastes of bubbling red fruit; excitement - not tame

Tasting with Andy Peay (Washington, DC): Much darker and more concentrated (relatively) than the Scallop Shelf, this shows more black cherries, jam and darker flowers. Still vibrant and lively, but I think this could use a bit more time in the cellar.

Raspberries, cola, acidity, cedar, tobacco and oak. Lacked some complexity, acidity was a little too much. A-/B+
