Well past peak, still a joy. Opened 30 minutes before tasting. Inky, rusty, deep purple. On the nose, black plum, raisin, and some expected sulphur notes given the age. On the palate, black and red plum, raisin, caramel; a lovely balance of acidity, sweetness, and earth. Medium finish, more tannins than I associate with a Barbera, let alone a 14yo Barbera, but nicely integrated. Elegant, outstanding.

(VOERZIO Barbera CERRETTO) 2004 Voerzio Dear Friends, I don’t know a lot about this wine but I do know that Roberto Voerzio has a gold-mine full of wines from the 2004 vintage waiting to debut and this is supposedly the first one of a very serious group. Make no mistake, these are not wines of tradition (although Voerzio may argue that fact) but they can be as impressive as any group of wines from anywhere (just not as varietally specific as I would personally like). This Barbera comes very highly touted and it’s from a great year. On a tip, I was able to get a small parcel at a terrific price before it sold out, about the same price as in Alba (which is almost impossible with the new releases that are based on current Dollar/Euro valuation). This wine is not widely distributed and there is very little coming to the US next year. ONE SHIPMENT ONLY at this price with perfect provenance: 2004 Roberto Voerzio Barbera d’Alba “Cerretto” Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Italy7410

Nice Barbera al ittl pricey for what it is but still very nice... lovely mellow cherry fruit with a floral aroma and solid acidity.

Wine with very strong aroma and very high (14.5%) alcohol. Very good, especially for those who prefer new world style wines.

Very pure but simple, no detailed note taken. Overpriced as you can find barberas like this for much cheaper. Pay for pozzo.
