Pulled this bottle to drink along side a 2012 Scarecrow. Very similar in structure profile but so very different with regards to site even though both from Rutherford. I really enjoyed the more serious dark fruit that was in this bottling. The rather vast contrast reminds me of a conversation I had with Nigel Kinsman at Bella Oaks and how the Rutherford AVA shouldn't be a big as it is. Way to diverse to be classified into one AVA. I would have guessed Oakville. So different from Bella O, Scarecrow or Greer.
I’m a big fan of Corra’s cabs, however, this was my first experience with their Tietjen cab - quite impressive. Dark ruby fruit - dark cherry, currants, dark raspberry, and some blackberry. Really smooth with a beautiful purity and solid depth/concentration - medium plus body. A fairly elegant profile where the purity shines. Nice rich flavors of dark berries, some spice, cassis, and a little mineral component. Fairly long finish. Decanted for one hour and drank over a couple more. Not much improvement with time but at a nice drinking point. No surprise the Tietjen cab regularly sells-out so fast at the Winery. 100% cab.
