Would buy on sale again. Oak, green apple and a good amount of minerality. Was enjoyable, but not quaffable. Took 3 days to drink while bottle. Still held up

Good value in Calif. Chardonnay 2017 Merryvale Chardonnay Carneros (Costco, $17 marked down from $24). Sharp, dark 24K gold; toasty, vanilla, peach nose; mid-plus body, acids; good depth of fruit; long semi-crisp buttery finish. 16.5 UC Davis scale, 91 other scales.

Surprisingly good....comes from the Carneros region, same area as the famed Rombauer Chardonnay.....and it has a some of the features of Rombauer: buttery and a lot less citrusy....really enjoyed it.

Much more oak forward than I prefer , but very good for what it is. A steel spine of lemony acidity (no or partial malo?) keeps the oak in check and there’s some crisp green apple and slate in there as well. Not super complex, but Nicely balanced for an oaked CA chard.
