  • Started out promising with a big, voluptuous nose of dark cherry and black raspberry fruit, graphite, vanillin, and a hint of molten chocolate. But on the palate, much goes awry as the tannins are simply too aggressive, even with food the beautiful fruit is overwhelmed and the overall feeling is abrasive. Less skin contact or fewer/no pips might have produced a more balanced wine. It’s fine; not particularly good or great.

  • Hilarious. I was thinking about adding some Madiran wines to the EWC wine range back in Melbourne when I stumble across this number on the very well priced list at Indigo in Bangkok. Started out rich with old fashion robust red fruits but did settle down quickly over 2hrs. Drinking like a good mid-range left bank (ie not classified growth) with the mildy sandy tannin and dry fruits. Not a 'wow' wine but well built and very interesting.
