A: Deep purple with pink rim N: med + intensity, green pepper, black plum, olives, ,coffee, chocolate, barnyard, P: Dry, medium (+) acidy, medium youthful tongue tannins, full body, medium (+) intensity and medium finish C: The green bell pepper seems the focus here and is overwhelming. Out of balance. The finish is shorter despite the good intensity. The wine lacks complexity but does seem typical of the grape and style.
Guesses: Some bitterness, lots of pyrazine and barnyard. I thought at first, this was an old world cab franc. Nut then there was the espresso and dark chocolate and the color seemed inconsistent so I went with carmenere

MNB: Pyrazinic Reds III (Home (Noe st)): (blind) Medium ruby. Strong pyrazines on the nose - fresh-cut dark green bell pepper. On the palate, hints of RS, this has hints of new oak - sort of a creamy, milk-chocolatey edge. It has a hint of vague sweet fruit which takes me away from Carmenere to Cab.
14% alcohol, medium plus acid, medium tannins.
Final call: 2017 Chilean Cabernet, $25 Actual: Carmenere! 2017 Casa Silva Carmenere, 14% Analysis: This is slightly sweeter and riper than I'd expect, but this totally makes sense.

Costco buy. $11. Licorice root, red fruits, bell pepper.
A surprisingly complex wine for the price. Going back tomorrow for more.

Ready to drink; well made; different flavor profile than any of the more popular grapes. Lacks tanins to support long aging.
