PnP. Light red with a hint of browning on the edge. Complex nose of herbs, spice, sandalwood and some dark fruit. Medium light on the palate with a relatively short finish which may be beginning to dry out. These vines were only 6 years old in 05 and this was the first year as a vineyard designate. Drink up.

Popped and poured. On the first night this seemed a bit disjointed and lacking in the depth of fruit I expected based on the previous bottle and other 2005. SEcond night this had smoothed out and integrated nicely with dark berry compote mixed with a smoky herbal character that was quite intriguing. At this point could use a decant; interesting wine.

Based on Ted Lemon's comments that this seemed to be developing the most rapidly of the 2005's decided age 5 was a good time to dip into the 05 Pinots. Dark deep red, no fading at the rim; very mineral on the nose with herbs, sandalwood, and deep fruit but buried under the concentration and structure; would not have picked this as Anderson Valley - more Sonoma Coast and perhaps closest to Hirsch of the other Littorai Pinots. Over time the fruit has become more apparent; this wine is clearly red-fruited with excellent acidity and will benefit from a few more years in the cellar.

Very complex and burgundian. Still quite young, high toned fruit and a long finish, extremely elegant for a Californa Pinot.
