Asperg Wine Syndrome Tasting Group: Fall edition (@home): Glass: Zalto Bordeaux Popped and poured, drunk over two days. Clear, medium ruby, glowing color. Clean, medium+ intense, youthful-developing nose. Dark cherries, fine red fruit, lots of crushed stones, some fine oak, deep and complex. Dry, medium+ acidity, medium+ fine and present tannin. 13,5% abv. Lots of fine red fruit, beautiful mineral core and some fresh herbs. Lean and precise, very round, balanced and harmonious, but also with a nice tension and pressure. Oak is very well integrated. Medium+, complex finish. Still young, potential for a decade. 92-93

Laurent Lignier at Plum Market (Chicago, IL): Fully destemmed. From vines planted in 1950 and 2002; purchased fruit from Reniard (60-year-old vines) and Epointures (15-year-old vines). (The math doesn't add up, but I think the intent is clear.) The Ligniers oversee the vineyard management from July to harvest. The plots are vinifed separately before blending. A little mute and dumb on the nose here. Overall, not as intense as many of the other wines. Nice gentle red-fruited character, but a touch dilute. Good by itself, weak in context.

Tasting Young Hubert Lignier Wines with Laurent Lignier (Plum Market - Chicago IL): Tasting, brief note. From Reniard and Epointures. Black fruit aromas and flavors, restrained for the vintage. Medium weight.
100% destemmed. Cellar for a few years.
