  • Similar to previous. Now the alcohol is barely noticeable, the mouthfeel is quite delicious. Sweet mature fruit, dry finish, still a bit grippy. Dried herbs, ironstone, leather and all that, plus very nice balance. Colour doesn't really look old at all. The remaining few bottles will last for some years, though for many people this is at its peak.

People who go through these young are missing out on what it's all about (IMHO).

It's just getting better minute by minute.

  • Colour not showing much age, but definitely fined down since last time. Lots of sediment, needing a good decant after standing at 45 degrees for a day or two. Still a touch alcoholic which accentuates the dry CNP flavour. Good mouth feel, adequate acid. Still a bit tannic but the tannin is very evenly distributed over the whole mouth so the effect is pleasing. Needs a good bit of air. Next bottle: a year or two, and serve a bit on the cool side (alcohol).

  • Rather alcoholic to my taste. Needs lots of air. Leave another few years, as there's plenty of stuffing in the wine.

  • Outstanding wine. Close to peak. Everyone liked his wine representing a good standard from the Southern Rhone.

  • Deep ruby red.
Red berry fruits, light dried herbs, hint of fragrant mustard seed and garrigue. Clean and bright.
Red and some blue berries, tar and licorice spice, very smooth and balanced. Very classy finish, subtle acidity and very fine but plentiful tannins. Comes across as still very youthful, not especially developed, could be a bit more interesting. No hard edges, impressively suave. Come back in 5 years.
