  • Fruitier than I expected with a slightly candied green apple or tropical fruit or...quince?...character, but the smoky mineral character you’d expect is definitely there too as a supporting player, and saline too. A little residual sweetness (which disappears with food), M+ body, M acid. This is in the territory of a Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio but with a little more sweetness and body, and a mild but clear dose of Canary Islands character which here isn’t so much weird and funky, just refreshingly different from the shelves full of decent but forgettable wines in this price range. Pretty good value, but most importantly excellent with food. We had it with papas arrugadas and mojo picon, gazpacho, grilled asparagus, and black beans with lime and cilantro. Great with all those dishes but especially the mojo picon; I always try to pair regional dishes with regional wines but there are few pairings more perfect than that sauce with Canary Islands wine, red or white either way. This bottle seemed especially to love salty food. ~6/10
