  • Archetypical Cali Chard, but not as buttery or in-your-face as countless others. Lot’s of butter, popcorn, butterscotch, green pineapple. Drinks like a Villages Meursault from a hot vintage that would be half the price. Meh. 89-90 at best.

  • Friday Night Uptown Brown Bagger (R&D's): Double blind. Light color, with notes of banana, coconut, pear and lemon blossom. Full-bodied, featuring pear, quince, lemon and vanilla flavors. Lingering finish. Easy to pick out as a Peter Michael chardonnay from this cellar, and beginning to drink very nicely. (R&D)

  • This one was right down the middle. Poured a medium straw color to the glass. Initial nose was perfectly ripe yellow fruits, caramel, and a hint of burned butter with herbs. The mouthfeel is right down the middle. On the entry, round and obtuse yet has great salinity and minerality. White peach and pear, salted caramel, a hint of apricot. Herbed butter. Finishes with a lot of white pepper, acidic character, limestone grit. This wine plays both sides and it does that incredibly well. I would definitely say This is an all-purpose Chardonnay that can go with just about any food pairing or a la cart (and oh what an all purpose Chardonnay it is!!). If I could afford this as a daily white wine drinker, it would be one of three well-integrated and balanced white wines that have come to appreciate over the years. You could probably guess one, and if you really know me, you could probably guess them both! Really nice wine here. Have no fear holding this up to 10 years with proper cellaring.

  • This lively and layered Chardonnay is drinking beautifully at the moment, with a complexity and class that show Peter Michael at its best. Light yellow in color and medium in body, the wine offers aromas of grapefruit, lemon peel, crushed rock, and ocean air. The flavors cascade, from key lime to tangerine to fresh almond to quartz, with an integrated and lifted finish. 14.4% alcohol. Drink in next few years.
