  • No notes and only fleeting impressions as it was a knockout wine dinner with chateau Angelus hosted dinner at Anhelo restaurant in downtown Phoenix.

Have had very little experience with the Le Carillon to date so it was fun and rewarding to taste the ‘15 right after the ‘18. Both wines were a pleasant surprise and really were enjoyable to the point I looked up to the others around the table and we all felt the same way. Very nice approachable wines- I would drink again, especially at a restaurant. Would love BTG here. I think the ‘18 edged out the ‘15 overall but the ‘15 is in a better spot at this point Tim time due to the 3 years of age.

  • Angelus Tasting (Anhelo (Phoenix)): This second wine of Angelus comes from a designated vineyard with younger vines (15-20 yrs old). It is a very nice wine and certainly should be consumed earlier than Angelus (I think 5 - 7 years). Very fruit forward and nice mouthfeel. Will undoubtably gain some tertiary goodness after 5 yrs of bottle age, but certainly drinkable now. Nose is better than the palate at this point, but both are very nice.

Nose shows violets and dark fruit with hints of cedar and spice. Palate is hedonistic with lots of dark fruit, some anise, cigar and spice, but it is the fruit front and center. A hedonistic wine that should please lots of people, even non wine drinkers. A solid 90 points.

  • Better in bottle than in barrel, this stellar baby version of Angelus hits all the right marks. Lushly textured, rich, ripe, opulent and forward, all the sweet, ripe, plums, cherries, licorice and cocoa feels like pure silk on the palate. Enjoy this while waiting for Chateau Angelus to mature. The wine was made from 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc.

  • No longer a second wine as the parcels once produced, Le Carillon de l'Angélus 2018 is undoubtedly a step up in quality. The floral nose with its licorice, ripe plum and smoke, seeks out your attention. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and fresh and the finish is all about the elegance and sweetness in the fruit. The wine was made from 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. 91-93 Pts
