Very deep dark red; opaque. Nose of blackberry and spice. On the palate, the wine has so much extraction of dark fruit that it pushed the limit of my senses. This is all surrounded by moderate new oak, and concludes with a medium finish with resolved tannins. As has been the case for me with the Durantou wines, acidity keeps things from turning into candy.
This wine is over the top for me, but I cannot deny that there is very good quality here and extraordinary value. For someone who likes big, rich new world wines, I just don't understand why this would not (at ~$20!!) render obsolete the fruit bombs coming out of CA.
Nose: dark cassis, red licorice, faint anise, old leather. Palate: plush, dark wood grain; there's a mildly tart dark cherry note that's in the background throughout; present and polished tannins that complement a warming prickle on the finish; good acidity; the oak barrel wood flavors become even more prominent on day adding a cheap perfumed wood component that's a bit much for me, especially on the finish.

Decanted this all day and aerated into the glass. Very nice, sturdy wine. A little dried plum on the nose, but not a lot of fruit, which I'm preferring more and more. You could almost taste the land it was grown on. Mellow tannins with a little dust to them. Not an overly long finish, but what can you expect at this price level. The QPR is good and that's a win. I'll be drinking more of this. Just remember to decant it fully. It needs that help.

Pop and pour. I agree with REZY13's assessment. It has an unpleasant bitter taste. Let it breathe for an hour also no change. Hopefully it will improve in a few years.
Dark core with thin garnet rim; thick with a strong girdle of oak and spice, very clearly Merlot with lots of plum sauce, blackberry, sweet blueberry, rich ripe fruit that expands on the palate, cedary and grainy almost chalky tannin give this an exaggerated counterbalance, hope time will bring this a little more harmony, right now it’s a bit of an old school roller coaster think Coney Island; Tasting blind I could have gone domestic like Alexander Valley but there is a rigidity that is distinctly French; solid and clearly a great QPR but a little too much makeup at this stage for me, let’s see what mid term cellaring does for this.
