  • Really delicious, and not at all like the cliche of a Brut Nature BdB. A torrent of irresistible ripe fruit on both nose and palate; on the nose delicately spiced, with tasteful hints of cedar and vanilla from the elevage, like a baked apple, then richer on the palate, more like a toffee apple. The finish was much brisker: lemon peel, lime juice, quite long and mineral. Every sip demanded another... superb.

  • Golden straw colour. Not hugely aromatic just understated elegance, with hints of baked apple. This is a complex Blanc de Blancs with no shortage of acidity and plenty of energy and persistence with citrus but not fruity flavours. It paired very nicely with sashimi and assorted Japanese take out. It is not tight but not open, so likely can be cellared longer. Would be very interesting to try next to Egly Brut Tradition to compare and contrast.

Left it stoppered in the fridge and 48 hours later drank the remaining quarter and the citrusy flavours (red apple peel?) had become a touch sweeter, the Champagne was more open and in a good spot.

N.B. Annoying that on CT there are multiple entries of the same wine.

  • From one single parcel with Portlandian soils on top of the hill in Buxières-sur-Arce, organically farmed. Spontaneously fermented in used demi-muids, bottled in late spring 2017, and disgorged in January 2019 (20 months sur lattes) without any dosage. Freshly poured, the wine shows youthful yet expressive aromas of ripe citrus, moist limestone, and hints of wood spice. It offers firm acidity, mineral structure and excellent concentration of fruit in a fully dry context. Still tight, yet not unyielding, but quite long and highly promising for the future. Much appreciated with oysters al fresco - classic pairing! (Disclaimer: ITB with Swedish importer Vin & Natur)
