Starts out with more floral and red fruited aromas. Then it turns more earthy and savoury on the palate with a finish that's quite savoury and tarry, though it also shows a light coffee/mocha element on the back end that I find distracting. As with the other more modern-styled Barolo poured here, I'm finding myself liking the fruit/brightness but wondering how much more I'd like the wine without the noticeable oaky/coffee signature on the back.

Nose here has fresh fruit, fresh road tar but mushroom and spice More open red fruited than the 2015 on the palate but tonnes of structure here too. Again needs more time

Med ruby, brown hue toward rim. Med+ intensity, dried and stewed cherries, dried strawberry, red currant, dried rose, cedar, baking spices, savory, smoke, smoke meats, dried rose and lavender
Med tannin, med acid, long finish (substantial on the back palette), dry, med body, high alcohol. For being 9 years old this aged quite nicely already! Great dried fruit flavors with a beautiful floral and fruit nose. This took my by surprise with how well it was drinking as I expected it to need some more time still. Opened up beautifully over two hours, but even after the PnP it was great. I didn’t pay for this bottle but I would definitely look to buy some at the price! Paired with tomato sauce based seafood pasta. 93 pts
