Christmas BYO (HSH): Impressive and deep nose with red apples, browned butter and mushrooms. Sweet red apples on the palate, slightly oxidized, and loads of mushrooms and wet forest floor. Deep, full-bodied and long aftertaste but still with a fresh acidity. A very interesting caramel note comes through in the aftertaste. Impressive wine!

A lovely wine, but too bad it followed the 76 Dom. Difficult to compete. Very fresh with good citrus and some pear. Good fruit on the palate with very bright finish. 94 pts.

Burgundy 2002 Horisontal Tasting (@ Terkel): Red apple juice on the nose. The palate has a lot of yellow plums and red bruised apples. A solid acidity but clearly an aged wine. Long acidic aftertaste! There is still an impressive freshness and overall a great wine! 95-96p

A fabulous bottle of Champagne. A very distictive package with and etched flagon rather than traditional bottle with a label. As an oak fermented champagne, I had heard rumours that this was a baby Krug like a Gosset Celebris but I must beg to differ. Golden color veering toward topaz. A medium bead but the effervescence dissapated quickly. This is showing its maturity but aging well. Certainly a full bodied champagne in a robust style but no oxidative notes whatsoever. What a Krug should be! Big and yeasty like a Meursault but not over the top leesy. A real food wine that can stand up to a ripe washed rind cheese, a quiche or a cream sauce. Excellent! Buy recent vintages if you can find them.
