Deep ruby in the glass with some violet hues. Aromatic and alcoholic on the nose - licorice, blackcurrant, raspberry, cloves and loads of heat. Full-bodied, punches you in the dick, this Shiraz. Just loads of everything coming at you. Not for me.

Masterclass - Wines of the Barossa (Zoom): Deep ruby, with high extraction. Peppery, medium ripe cassis aromas, as well as some cool minty greens. Powerful tannins, intense, and full-bodied, with cassis, pepper, cinnamon, and nutmeg flavours, as well as a touch of purple flowers and tar smokes towards the back. Upfront, punchy, and a rather simple finish of medium length

Cuttings taken from the Old Bastard vines were planted in 1961. This is densely fruited with a rich, velvety feel against the gums. There’s a lot going on with complex earth and floral tones. It has great drive and is very long.

Overextracted, overoaked shiraz that resembles Cab more than Shiraz. Not a bad wine per se, but not great either.
